Akshaya Tritiya 2024: Every year, Akshaya Tritiya falls on the third day of the bright half of the Vaishakh Month. On this day, there is a special conjunction of planets. If Rohini Nakshatra falls on Akshaya Tritiya, its significance increases thousandfold. This year, on May 10, 2024, Rohini Nakshatra will be present from 10:47 in the morning. On this day, auspicious activities like marriage, buying gold and silver, and starting new ventures can be undertaken without considering any muhurat. 

Important Events That Took Place On This Day:

  • It was on Akshaya Tritiya that the Treta Yuga began, which lasted for 12,96,000 years. In this era, Lord Vishnu incarnated as Vamana, Parashurama, and Rama. Today marks the opening of the Badrinath temple.
  • Lord Nar-Narayan was incarnated on this day. At the Sri Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan, the feet of the deity are revealed on this day; otherwise, they remain covered throughout the year.
  • On this day, Lord Krishna and Sudama reunited, changing Sudama's fate. It was also the day of the incarnation of Lord Brahma's son, Shri Akshay Kumar.
  • Kubera, the god of wealth, attained unparalleled riches on this day and became the treasurer of the gods.
  • On Akshaya Tritiya, Lord Ganesha commenced writing the Mahabharata with Ved Vyasa.
  • Special rituals are performed to please Goddess Mahalakshmi on this day.
  • The Mahabharata war ended on this day.
  • On this day, the Ganges River descended from heaven to Earth.
  • Lord Krishna presented the Akshay Patra to the Pandavas on this day.
  • Goddess Annapurna was born on this day.
  • The end of the Dwapara Yuga occurred on this day.
  • On this day, Lord Krishna saved Draupadi from disrobing.
