'Issues Will Be Addressed To EC': Congress MP Rahul Gandhi After Tharoor Claims Irregularities In Vote Counting
Rahul Gandhi also said that he's proud that Congress has had open and transparent polls
After Congress Presidential candidate Shashi Tharoor wrote to Congress Central Election Authority chairman Madhusudhan Mistry, alleging irregularities in conduct of the election in UP, party MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that issues will be addressed to the Election Commission (EC), who will take a decision. He also said that he's proud that Congress has had open and transparent polls.
Amid the Andhra Pradesh leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra, Gandhi interacted with the media at Adoni Arts & Science College, and said, "We're the only political party in country that holds polls & has election commission. I've worked with Mistry Ji (Cong CEC chairman), he's straightforward. Issues will be addressed to EC, who'll take a decision."

As reported earlier, the Congress election authority sources refuted Tharoor's allegations, saying that the claims were baseless. None of Tharoor's agents, who were present in Lucknow at the time of voting, raised concerns. The problem is with his Delhi agent, they said.
However, Tharoor congratulated the new president of Congress after Mallikarjun Kharge and said "the revival of our party has truly begun today". "It is great honour, huge responsibility to be president of Congress, I wish Mallikarjun Kharge all success in that task...I believe the revival of our party has truly begun today," Tharoor said in a statement.
Kharge becomes the Congress' first non-Gandhi president in 24 years. The 80-year-old leader succeeds Sonia Gandhi at the grand old party's highest office.
