Covid-19 In Andhra Pradesh: For the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020, Andhra Pradesh did not report any fresh case of Covid-19 on Monday
New Delhi: For the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020, Andhra Pradesh did not report any fresh case of Covid-19 on Monday. However, the State is not Covid-free yet, as it still has 22 active cases.
In 24 hours ending 9 AM today, 2,163 sample tests were conducted and they all were negative, Medical and Health Department data showed. Also, 12 more people got cured of the infection. The gross positive cases registered touched 23,19,662 and recoveries 23,04,910 till date. The overall toll remained at 14,730 with no fatalities reported in more than a month now, the data showed.
Before Monday, a Covid-19 bulletin was released on April 23, which reported two cases one each in Krishna and Visakhapatnam districts. Earlier, one case was recorded on both April 21 and April 20, according to the Covid bulletin released by the state.
According to CoWIN dashboard, a total of 9,31,99,360 doses of Covid have been administered so far for people in the eligible categories.

VIMS Only Institute To Host Nasal Covid Vaccine Trials In AP
Vishaka Institute of Medical Sciences is the only institute to host nasal Covid-19 vaccines trials in Andhra Pradesh. This institute is among the other 17 medical institutions or colleges where the nasal vaccine trials are underway.
The third phase of clinical trials of the intranasal vaccine started on Saturday (April 24). Ahead of the beginning of the trials, VIMS Director Dr Rambabu said that the trials would be carried out in different phases for those in the age group of 18-65 years. He also said that nearly 3,000 volunteers would be given nasal vaccine across the country of which 40 volunteers will be hosted at VIMS, a Deccan Chronicle report said.
The nasal drops are much safer and easier to administer compared to vaccines by injections.
