Chandrababu Naidu Fulfills His Vow, Returns To Andhra Pradesh Assembly After 31 Months As CM

On Friday, the entire house stood to give a warm welcome to Chandrababu Naidu as he walked in as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

After a vow made in November 2021, Chandrababu Naidu returned to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Friday as the Chief Minister, following a landslide victory for his party in the state elections. This marks his fourth term as Chief Minister.

In addition to Naidu's significant return, YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy also took his oath at the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on the same day. However, Reddy left the Assembly shortly after the oath-taking ceremony.

According to an official source, Pro-tem Speaker and TDP legislator G. Butchaiah Chowdary sworn-in 172 MLAs.

After the swearing-in ceremony, the Pro-tem Speaker adjourned the House until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The session did not include the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, the source added.

However, TDP leader Nara Lokesh, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, and others filed nominations for the Speaker’s post on behalf of TDP’s Narsipatnam MLA C. Ayyannapatrudu, according to a report on PTI.

Chandrababu Naidu's Vow In 2021

In 2021, Naidu had pledged that he would only return to the Assembly after regaining the Chief Ministership, a promise prompted by an incident where his family was insulted in the Assembly. On Friday, visuals showed the entire house standing to give a warm welcome to Naidu as he walked in as Chief Minister, a moment of vindication for the seasoned politician.

The vow was taken on November 19, 2021, after a comment made by YSRCP members reportedly insulted Naidu's wife, Nara Bhuvaneshwari. The incident deeply affected Naidu, who left the Assembly fighting tears, comparing it to the 'Kaurava Sabha' from the Mahabharata, where Draupadi was humiliated. He declared that he would not return to the Assembly unless he was reinstated as Chief Minister.
