Andhra Pradesh HC Grants Interim Bail To Ex-CM Chandrababu Naidu

The bail to TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu was reportedly granted on health grounds.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court Tuesday granted interim bail to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for four weeks in the skill development case. The bail was reportedly granted on health grounds.

According to ANI, High Court Advocate Sunkara Krishnamurthy said: "Andhra Pradesh High Court grants interim bail to Former Andhra Pradesh CM and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu for four weeks, in the skill development case."

During the hearing, the court said, "Considering the painful and pressing nature of the petitioner's reported health conditions, and without delving into the merits of the case, this Court is inclined to grant interim bail solely for the purpose of allowing the petitioner to undergo the necessary medical examination."

"The medical report clearly indicates that the petitioner requires cataract surgery on his right eye. Therefore, it is a reasonable proposition to permit him to seek treatment at the same hospital where he had the surgery for his left eye," it said.

The Court granted the interim bail on health grounds and directed the former CM to appear before the Superintendent of the central prison in Rajamahendravaram on or before November 28.

The TDP chief was also ordered to provide the Superintendent of the Central Prison with details of the treatment he received and the hospital where he was treated in a sealed cover at the time of his surrender.

On September 9, Naidu was arrested for allegedly misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation.
