Suzuki recently unveiled the new Bandit 150 at the 2018 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in Jakarta. Unfortunately, the Bandit 150 won't make it to India as Suzuki already has the Gixxer 150, which is doing pretty well in our market. Moreover, the Gixxer is due for an update next year, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
The Bandit 150, which is based on the GSX-S150, features masculine design elements such as a sculpted fuel tank, tank extensions and a trapezoidal-shaped LED headlight that may appeal to the masses. Additionally, the motorcycle also gets a fully digital instrument console derived from the Gixxer 150 and a well-designed engine cowl, which adds to its charm. The motorcycle also sports a dual-port exhaust borrowed from the GSX-S150, albeit with a new heat shield.
Powering the Bandit is a 147.3cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that churns out 19PS of power and 14Nm of torque. The Gixxer’s 154.9cc, single-cylinder engine, on the other hand, is carburetted and produces 4.2PS less power. However, both motorcycles produce the same amount of torque.
Although the Bandit shares the same chassis as the GSX-S150, it uses a different subframe to accommodate its single-piece seat. Other than this, the rest of the cycle parts seem to be pretty much identical to the Gixxer 150 sold in India. The bike employs conventional telescopic forks up front and a rear monoshock. Braking duties are handled by discs at both ends but misses out on ABS, even as an option.
Taking into consideration the Rs 1.17 lakh price tag of its sporty cousin, the GSX-S150, we can expect the Bandit 150 to be an attractive proposition in the Indonesian market, much like the Gixxer 150 is in India.
