Will Musharraf appear before court today?: CJP
Lahore [Pakistan], June 14 (ANI): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday questioned if the former President Pervez Musharraf will even appear before the court today or not.
"Find out if Musharraf will appear before court or not," the chief justice remarked while heading a four-judge bench, hearing a case filed by Musharraf in 2015 against the rejection of his nomination papers in the 2013 general election, as per Geo News.
The CJP ordered the deputy attorney general to get an update on Musharraf's appearance which was scheduled for 2pm on Thursday and asked him to submit a reply in the court at the earliest.
Last night, the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Secretary-General Dr Amjad said Musharraf is unlikely to return to the country today, citing, difficulties in purchasing tickets back home.
The travel is made even more difficult as his passport still blocked.
The ex-president was trying to get new dates from the courts, Dr Amjad informed.
Nisar further said that the scrutiny of Musharraf's nomination papers for the upcoming General Election would not be allowed if he failed to return to Pakistan. (ANI)
