'Swan Lake' back to India with multi-city tour

New Delhi [India], Jan 4 (ANI): Following the resounding success of Swan Lake's premiere in September 2017, Navrasa Duende has now announced its plans to take the classic ballet to other cities of India.

The co-production by the Royal Russian Ballet and Navrasa Duende will embark on a multi-city tour in March 2018, starting from Mumbai. The ballet will be performed in over 25 shows in Mumbai, five shows in Ahmedabad, five shows in Kolkata and five shows in Delhi.

The production in Delhi, which featured 41 artists of the Royal Russian Ballet, left audiences spellbound as the young troupe brought alive the spectrum of emotions that Tchaikovsky's musical score is famous for.

The upcoming productions of the ballet will also be choreographed by Vladimir Troschenko and directed by Anatoly Kazatsky, while Matsak Natalia will reprise her role as both the white swan and the black swan.

Dinesh B. Singh, Founder and CEO, Navrasa Duende said, "The response to the performances in Delhi was simply delightful and we had several people asking us to bring the ballet to their city even before the event concluded. This led to us plan this multi-city tour across the country and take this beautiful art form to other cities and acquaint more Indian audiences with it. All we can say right now is that the shows will be as grand and splendid as the first time around, and we will leave no stone unturned to ensure that all of them are as big a success as Swan Lake was in its maiden Indian staging in Delhi."

Swan Lake is a ballet which is more than a century old and is performed on the classical compositions written by Russian composer, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The story originates from Russian folk tales and the principal character in it is Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse. With its primary themes such as love, and the battle between good and evil, the story holds a special place in the hearts of viewers across all ages even today and never fails to move them despite the era it belongs to.
