India protests 'Azad Kashmir Constitution' amendment

New Delhi [India], June 12 (ANI): Days after Pakistan passed the Azad Kashmir Constitution amendment, India has sent a strong-worded statement protesting the same.

As per a press release by the Ministry of External Affairs on Monday, the Indian Government conveyed a protest against the so-called 'Azad Jammu and Kashmir Interim Constitution (13th Amendment) Act 2018.'

It noted that any part of the territory which is under 'forcible or illegal' occupation of Pakistan does not have any legal basis.

"It was clearly conveyed that the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir, which also includes the so-called 'Azad Jammu and Kashmir' is an integral part of India by virtue of its accession in 1947," the release stated.

The government further asked Pakistan to immediately vacate areas under illegal occupation.

The Pakistan Occupied Kashmir has its own President and Prime Minister. A part of PoK comprises of Gilgit-Baltistan as well. (ANI)
