India has extended the visa of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has been residing in the country since August 2023. This decision comes amid escalating demands in Dhaka for her return. The 77-year-old leader left Bangladesh amidst nationwide protests and has since been staying at a secure location in Delhi. 

The visa extension was granted by India’s Ministry of External Affairs, with approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs, ensuring her stay remains seamless. However, Indian authorities clarified that Hasina has not been granted asylum, as the country lacks specific laws governing refugees.
