Manipur News: Curfew Imposed Across 7 Districts, Internet Services Suspended | ABP News

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over three cases related to the recent violence in Manipur. These incidents have led to the loss of several lives and disruptions to public order. Following a recent directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the agency has assumed control of the cases from the Manipur Police. The latest incidents of violent protests occurred on the night of November 16. In the Jiribam district, militants killed three women and three children, which led to an angry mob attacking the residences of three state ministers and six legislators. This prompted the imposition of an indefinite curfew in the area. Meanwhile, the National People’s Party (NPP) withdrew its support from the BJP-led government in Manipur on Sunday, claiming that Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s administration had completely failed to resolve the crisis and restore normalcy in the northeastern state. The NPP has seven legislators in the 60-member Manipur Assembly. However, the government’s stability is unlikely to be affected, as the BJP holds a clear majority with 32 legislators. The BJP also enjoys the support of five legislators from the Naga People’s Front (NPF) and six from the Janata Dal-United (JD-U). Authorities reported that a mob set fire to the residences of three BJP legislators and one Congress legislator in various districts of the Imphal Valley, while security forces thwarted an attack on the ancestral home of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. The NPP stated in a letter, "We feel that the Biren Singh-led Manipur government has completely failed to resolve the crisis and restore normalcy." Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the central government over the ongoing violence in Manipur. He said, "I only seek justice, no matter who rules in Manipur. The Prime Minister hasn’t visited, and the people of Manipur have been suffering for months, even years. What is the Prime Minister doing? He is traveling all over the world, including Maharashtra and Jharkhand, but hasn’t gone to Manipur. Rahul Gandhi went there. He started his foot march from there to Mumbai, Maharashtra. Where is Mr. Modi? He has no face to go there... I condemn the central government’s attitude."
