Katra News: Special Plantation Drive On Trikuta Hill Where Shrine Of Mata Vaishno Devi Is Situated
The Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board in Katra town of Jammu and Kashmir is planning to undertake a massive plantation drive in Trikuta Hill where the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi is situated. As part of the plantation drive, the Shrine Board is growing close to 4 lakh saplings in a specially designed nursery equipped with the latest technology for upkeep of plants. "We have decided to plant more and more trees this year. There are 1.25 lakh forest species and 1.5 lakh flora species. We have set a total aim of 4 lakh spices. These plants are grown in our own high-tech nursery. We have the high-tech nursery in Kunia village. We only grew seeds that could be survive locally here," says Asstt. Conservator, Forest Shrine Board. At the nursery where the plants are grown round the year, special emphasis is given to grow saplings with medicinal values, and those which are equipped to survive in hilly areas. The nursery also has a QR code based system for people to acquire knowledge about the plants grown there.
