In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is holding a review meeting to analyze its significant defeat in Uttar Pradesh. According to sources, the review has revealed a distinct pattern in the decrease of votes.
The reasons for the defeat include issues related to reservation, caste mobilization, lack of coordination, and the government's role in various probes. The review covers all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. It was found that BJP's votes decreased in a specific pattern, particularly from Purvanchal to the western regions of the state, with an average reduction of about 6 to 7 percent.
In the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections, the BJP contested 75 out of the total 80 seats and secured 33 seats, resulting in a loss of 39 seats compared to the 2019 elections. In contrast, the Samajwadi Party contested a total of 62 seats and won 37.
