The Soren government of Jharkhand will conduct caste survey in the state. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of CM Champai Soren. For this, the Jharkhand Executive Rules have been amended and the responsibility of caste survey has been entrusted to the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms. This information was given by the cabinet secretary of the government, Vandana Dadel. The proposal passed in the cabinet states that the purpose of the caste survey is to provide an opportunity of proportional equality to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs in the state.

It has not been decided yet in the proposal passed by the cabinet what will be the process of caste survey and when will it start. Its complete outline will be decided by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms. After the completion of caste survey in Bihar, Jharkhand is the second state which has decided to conduct such a survey. It is being considered a big bet of the JMM-Congress-RJD coalition government of the state before the possible assembly elections in the state in October-November.
