In Sri Lanka, an elephant named Raja has become a local sensation due to his unusual habit of "collecting tax" from travelers. The 40-year-old elephant, known for his punctuality, positions himself along the Buttala-Kataragama road, stopping vehicles as they pass by. His request is straightforward — he expects food in return for letting them continue on their way.

When vehicles halt, Raja confidently extends his trunk, nudging drivers for his share. There's often a brief exchange, but the determined toll collector always ensures he gets his due. Only once his "food tax" is paid does he allow the travelers to move on. Locals have grown fond of Raja's routine, affectionately calling him the most dependable tax collector around.
