China’s First Corgi Police Dog Loses Year-End Bonus After Sleeping On Job and Peeing in Bowl

A Chinese police dog, Fuzai, loses its year-end bonus for misbehaving, including sleeping on the job and peeing in its bowl. Social media reacts, and Fuzai later receives a Lunar New Year gift.

A Chinese police dog, Fuzai, found itself in a tough spot after its year-end bonus was docked for sleeping on the job and peeing in its food bowl. The Corgi, a reserve explosives detection operative, became an internet sensation after joining the Weifang police dog training base in Shandong province at just four months old.

In a light-hearted clip shared by the Weifang Public Security Bureau on its popular social media account, "Corgi Police Dog Fuzai and Its Comrades," the four-legged officer is seen at what appears to be a performance review. Fuzai, who has garnered over 384,000 followers, was initially praised for its excellent work, passing the Level 4 assessment and aiding in various security tasks.

For these accomplishments, the Corgi was presented with a red flower, along with some treats and toys. A male police officer says in the video: “Come on, let’s hold a meeting. You performed great this year. You passed the Level 4 assessment for police dogs.

“Not only that, you also successfully completed various security tasks and significantly helped promote Weifang’s police dogs. For these achievements, we reward you with a red flower and some canned snacks and toys.”

However, he then adds: “But because of your recent behaviour, being fatigued in the workplace and even urinating in your own dog basin, we had to criticise and confiscate your snacks as a penalty. You will keep only the red flower.”

The footage, which shows the officer humorously confiscating Fuzai's canned snacks and toys, quickly went viral on social media. Viewers were sympathetic toward Fuzai, with many expressing their displeasure at the decision to dock the dog's bonus.

"Poor Fuzai worked hard all year, only to lose its year-end bonus. I can relate so much," one user commented. Another added: "It peed in its own bowl, not in the bowl of its boss. Let my bestie take the punishment for it and return its bonus immediately!"

Amid the growing online support, the Weifang Public Security Bureau posted a follow-up video, reassuring fans that Fuzai's bonus may have been confiscated, but the dog received a generous Lunar New Year gift package instead.
