Torrential Rains Bring Telangana To Grinding Halt; IMD Issues Red & Orange Alerts Across State

Hyderabad: After a 50 MM heavy downpour in the last 48 hours, Hyderabad and its surrounding districts came to a grinding halt. Besides, for the next two days, Incessant rainfall is expected. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in three districts of the state while nine districts were placed under Orange alert.
The three districts which were issued a red alert are Kumuram Bheem, Jagitial and Warangal. Also, there were people stranded in the bordering districts of Maharashtra. NDRF and SDRF teams were deployed as they have rescued 100 people who were stranded in the Nirmal district.

The capital city, Hyderabad has been battered by the heavy rainfall as NDRF teams started evacuating people from the low-lying areas of the city. The torrential rains led to water-clogging in many parts of the city creating a harrowing time to the commuters while tree felling has also been reported by people to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The municipality officials evacuated residents from low-lying areas — Chaderghat, Shankar Nagar, Rasoolpura, Musarambagh — of the city. And heavy rainfall is expected in the parts of Telangana for the next two days.
