KTR Takes Dig At BJP And Congress, Asks Farmers To Choose Between Crops, 3-Hour Power, Religious Agenda

KTR said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's campaign slogan was 'three crops' as he criticised Telangana Congress chief for supporting three-hour electricity supply for farmers.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday asked farmers in Telangana to decide whether they want the three crops promised by the ruling party, Congress' three-hour promise of power or the BJP's "fire in the name of religion".

Criticising Telangana Congress state chief A Revanth Reddy for supporting three-hour electricity supply for farmers, KTR emphasised that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's campaign slogan was "three crops".

Using rhyming words in Telugu, KTR stated that the BJP’s policy was "fire in the name of religion".

KTR also called Revanth Reddy "Chota Chandrababu", a reference to the former CM and TDP chief over his statements on agriculture. KTR asserted that saying farmers with three-acre plots of land need only three hours of electricity was an insult to small and marginal farmers.

Meanwhile, BRS workers and leaders, including party's MLC K Kavitha, protested in Hyderabad over state Congress chief Revanth Reddy's remark that there was no need for 24-hour free electricity supply to farmers in the state. BRS workers burnt the effigy of Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

TPCC president Revanth Reddy, during an interaction with NRI members from Telangana in the United States, claimed that providing 24-hour free power supply to the farming sector in Telangana was unnecessary. The TPCC president flagged that the majority of farmers in Telangana owned small and marginal land holdings of less than three acres, for which only three hours of power supply was sufficient. He further stated that eight hours of free power supply would be more than enough.

Additionally, the TPCC president alleged that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government was extending 24-hour power supply to farmers primarily to draw commissions from power utilities. He claimed that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was misleading the farmers and people of Telangana under the guise of free power.
