Telangana Govt To Provide Rs 1 Lakh Financial Aid To Minorities With 100% Subsidy

The financial assistance will be provided to only one member of a family, and the eligible age limit for applicants is between 21 and 55 years as of June 2, 2023.

The Telangana government on Sunday announced a financial assistance scheme of Rs 1 lakh for each eligible member of minorities- Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Parsis. Under this scheme, the financial assistance for minorities will be on par with the assistance extended to the backward classes. The scheme is a one-time grant with 100% subsidy, as per the GO issued by state minority welfare department secretary Syed Omer Jaleel. The financial assistance will be provided to only one member of a family, and the eligible age limit for applicants is between 21 and 55 years as of June 2, 2023. Dates for submitting applications for the grant would be announced soon.

A Government Order (GO) has been issued by the Minorities Welfare Department for the implementation of the economic support scheme. Applications received in the financial year 2022–23, which are pending, will be considered in 2023–24 for sanctioning the 100 percent direct subsidy of Rs 1 lakh to each eligible beneficiary. The scheme will be executed through the Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation.

For Christian applicants, fresh applications will be invited for the selection of beneficiaries, and the financial assistance will be extended through the Telangana State Christian Minorities Finance Corporation.

The state government claimed that the objective of this scheme was to promote economic self-reliance among minority communities in the state. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao emphasised that the government is committed to eradicating poverty in all sections of society, irrespective of caste and religion. The government is already providing support to deserving sections of the population, he said.

Efforts are being made to uplift minority communities by implementing various schemes in sectors like education and employment. The state government aims to ensure the development and welfare of all minority communities. CM KCR made it clear that the government will safeguard 'Ganga Jamuni Tehzeeb' by supporting all cultures and religious traditions equally.
