Telangana Govt Allocates Rs 3,500-Cr To Upgrade Over 9,000 State-Run Schools

New Delhi: Telangana government -- under the 'Mana Ooru, Mana Badi' scheme -- allocated Rs 3,497 crore towards the development of 9,123 government schools in the first phase of the scheme. Telangana Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy announced it in a video conference meeting on Monday. Finance Minister T Harish Rao was also present in the meeting.  

The Education Department mulling constituting committees to look after the upgradation of their respective government schools, said a New Indian Express report.

The government has decided to make this programme a success to fulfill students' needs to give education in the best possible way, said the education minister.

"As part of the 'Mana Ooru-Mana Badi' programme, plans have been drawn for government schools to have equal standards like private schools in the state. In the first phase of the program, we are prioritising developing 12 types of infrastructure in 9,123 schools at a cost of Rs 3,497 crore," Harish Rao said, as quoted by TRS Party on its Twitter handle.

The Finance Minister asked the schools to take pictures before and after the developmental works are done. That is in order to effectively display how the schools have been improved under the 'Mana Ooru, Mana Badi' scheme. Besides committees forming for every school, the Education Department decided to appoint a special officer in every zone to oversee the works and to ensure the upgradation works are done in stipulated time.
