Telangana: Congress Planning 48-Hour Protest Over KCR's Remarks on 'New Constitution', Says TPCC Leader Revanth Reddy

As part of the protests, the CM's effigy would be burned in front of Ambedkar statues around the state, the TPCC leader said.

Hyderabad: Expressing discontent over Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's idea of a 'new constitution', Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) leader and MP A Revanth Reddy urged the Congress cadre to launch a stir by announcing a 48-hour protest on February 3.

As part of the protests, the CM's effigy would be burned in front of Ambedkar statues around the state, the TPCC leader said.

According to Revanth, the views of KCR represents the objectives of the Bharatiya Janata Party. "This would be extremely unfair to various groups, particularly SCs and STs. KCR needs to apologise for his comments. We will hold Deeksha and burn his effigies if he fails to do so," he said.

Revanth said that while the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke for an hour and a half on the budget, the CM spoke for two and a half hours on the issue. He criticised the CM for speaking pictorially at the press meet on Tuesday.

Speaking to media at TS Bhavan in New Delhi, Revanth said that only the rich would benefit from the Union Budget 2022, and there would be no benefit for the poor and the middle class. He added that KCR could not ask seek funds for developmental projects such as a coach factory, tribal university, NTPC unit, railway lines, national highways.

Earlier, Revanth Reddy wrote a letter to Minister KTR asking to fulfil the election promises.

"The Jawahar Nagar dumping yard in my constituency emits toxic gases that threaten the lives of the people. The Joint Action Committee has told you many times that groundwater is also being polluted. Move the dump yard and protect the health of the people,” Revanth had said in the letter.
