Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Promises To Fulfill Two 'Pro-Poor' Promises Within A Week
Gearing up for an intense campaign ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Revanth Reddy criticized the opposition BRS and BJP for neglecting the people of the undivided Mahabubnagar district.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced on Wednesday that two electoral promises of the ruling Congress, namely the provision of LPG cylinders for Rs 500 to women and the allocation of 200 units of free power to the poor, would be put into effect within a week.
Speaking at a public gathering this evening after inaugurating development projects worth Rs 4,369 crores in his Assembly constituency of Kodangal, he assured that the Congress government would soon fulfill its electoral promise of implementing a farm loan waiver of Rs two lakh.
He highlighted that the government has already initiated the implementation of free travel for women on state-run RTC buses and a health scheme providing Rs 10 lakh coverage for the underprivileged, two of the six electoral assurances made by Congress, as per PTI.
Meanwhile, gearing up for an intense campaign ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Revanth Reddy criticized the opposition BRS and BJP for neglecting the people of the undivided Mahabubnagar district regarding irrigation projects, of which Kodangal was a part.
Targeting former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, he demanded that the BRS president apologize to the people of Mahabubnagar for "failing to provide water to a single acre despite spending Rs 27,000 crore on the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation project" despite being CM for 10 years.
Reddy questioned whether KCR had completed projects such as Beema, Nettempadu, Devadula, and Pranahita-Chevella. Alleging that Telangana suffered more losses during the BRS's ten-year rule than under undivided Andhra Pradesh, he accused the BRS and BJP of having a tacit understanding.
He raised concerns about the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project not receiving national project status despite PM Narendra Modi's 2014 assurance during a visit to Mahabubnagar. Reddy questioned why the project had not been accorded national status despite the BJP being in power at the Centre for the last decade, and with the state BJP president, G Kishan Reddy, serving as Union Minister.
Highlighting the lack of progress on a railway line through Kodangal approved during the Congress regime, Reddy criticized the absence of advancements over the past decade.
"Does it not amount to Modi ji cheating us," he said, as per the report.
