Telangana BJP Chief Bandi Sanjay 'Arrested' Ahead Of PM Modi's Visit, Says 'Fear Is Real'
BJP Telangana general secretary Premendar Reddy has alleged that Bandi Sanjay was detained as he asked questions of the state government.
Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay claimed that he was 'arrested' from his residence in Karimnagar on Tuesday night. BJP State General Secretary Premender Reddy has alleged that the 'arrested' was a plot to disturb PM Modi’s programme in Telangana.
Reddy said that the BJP will hold a state-wide protest against Bandi Sanjay's detention while alleging that it was done just to disrupt Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit, reported news agency ANI.
Reddy asked authorities the reason and the case under which Bandhi Sanjat was detained.
"What was the need to detain him (Bandi Sanjay) at this hour? What is the case and why has he been detained, no one has informed us. The reason is that he is asking questions to the state government and the KCR govt is trying to disturb PM Modi's visit to the state. We will hold a state-wide protest tomorrow against this," he said.
BJP State General Secretary Bangaru Shruthi has moved a Habeas Corpus petition in High Court over the detention of state BJP president & MP Bandi Sanjay said Rachna Reddy, High Court advocate, and BJP spokesperson, reported ANI.
Bandi Sanjay was detained a day after Sanjay demanded Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao reveal his post-graduate degree certificates.
Sharing visuals from the scuffle that ensued over police’s attempts to take him into custody, he wrote, “Fear is real in BRS.! First they stop me from conducting press meet & now arrest me late in night. My only mistake is to Question BRS govt on its wrong doings. Do not stop questioning BRS even if I am jailed. Jai Sri Ram ! Bharat Mata ki Jai ! Jai Telangana !”

Telangana BJP MLAs Detained
Telangana police detained BJP MLAs Raghunandan Rao and Eatala Rajender and other leaders on Wednesday while the BJP has called for state-wide protests against Bandi Sanjay's arrest.
Raghunandan Rao was detained near Bommala Ramaram police station in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district where he was lodged after his midnight arrest in Karimnagar.
A tense situation prevailed around the police station as scores of BJP workers reached there to stage a protest against the arrest of Sanjay.
Additional police forces were rushed to the area to control the situation. Police barricades were erected about 2 km from the police station to stop the protesters.
Raghunandan Rao and his supporters were also stopped by the police. The MLA, who wanted to meet police officers, was detained and whisked away in a vehicle. The protesters, including women, raised slogans against the police and tried to stop the vehicle.
Scuffles broke out when protesters tried to break the police cordon and advance toward the police station. Several protesters were arrested.
Raghunandan alleged that police violated the Supreme Court guidelines in Sanjay's arrest. He said the BRS government was creating "Bihar-like anarchy" in Telangana.
Another BJP MLA Eatala Rajender was detained by the police at Shameerpet on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The MLA was taken into preventive custody.
Rajender questioned the police action for detaining him when he was proceeding to the BJP office.
Later, Bandi Sanjay was shifted from the police station in a vehicle. The BJP workers tried to stop the police vehicle carrying him. They were detained by police.
The BJP leader is likely to be produced in a court in Nalgonda district. He was arrested from in-laws' house in Karimnagar around 12.45 a.m. He is believed to have been arrested in connection with the 10th class exam paper leak on Tuesday.
