WhatsApp To Add Playback Speed Feature For Audio Messages Soon

New Delhi: The world's most popular messaging platform WhatsApp is working on a playback speed feature for audio messages which has been spotted in beta on iOS. An audio message is essentially a voice note only, but it is a forwarded file.
According to WABetaInfo, a beta tracker of WhatsApp, this feature is currently under development and the feature might be available for Android users too.
"WhatsApp is developing a lot of new very interesting features, but the dev team is also improving what has been already implemented in the past: in this case, playback speeds for voice notes," WABetaInfo wrote on its page late on Monday.
The feature to play voice notes using different playback speeds became a success and that is what may have prompted the development team at the Meta-owned (formerly Facebook) messaging platform to test adding a playback feature for audio messages.
"After releasing the feature on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.21.9.10 and WhatsApp Messenger beta for iOS 2.21.90.11 updates, WhatsApp is now working on a new version of the feature, making it compatible with audio messages," WABetaInfo added.
WABetaInfo had put up a short video clip on its page that showed how the playback speed button for forwarded voice notes works. The feature has been spotted in a recent beta version of WhatsApp beta for iOS, but it’s currently under development, and it’s surely coming on the next versions of WhatsApp beta for Android as well.
The Facebook-owned company has also started to introduce end-to-end encrypted chat backups for iOS and Android users globally. The much sough-after update will make the chat accessible only to the users, if they choose to back up their chat history with end-to-end encryption and nobody will be able to unlock the backup, a recent report mentioned.
