Even though she and Musk usually don't share pictures of their daughter online to safeguard her privacy, she decided to upload this one since she appeared to be "fairly unrecognisable" in it.
She mentioned on the profile that Exa used to go by Y for short, but she has since decided that it is her new name.
"Exa is short for exaFLOPS, a word used in computing. Dark means the unknown. People are afraid of it but in reality, it's the absence of photons. Dark matter is the beautiful mystery of our universe," she told Vanity Fair in an interview
Sideræl means the true time of the universe, star time, and deep space-time, not our relative earth time, as per Grimes.
In the Vanity Fair interview, she accidentally revealed that the pair's daughter was born via surrogacy in December 2021.
The couple is not new to controversies around the names of their children. She and the Tesla CEO are also the parents to 2-year-old X A-12, also referred to as X. Since California law restricts the use of numbers in a legal name, X's name was eventually changed to X A-Xii.
The pair initially had a disagreement about how to pronounce the child's name, which Grimes addressed on Instagram. Grimes said, it is just X, as in the letter X. and then A.I. like the way one pronounces the letter A before I.
