Jio AirFiber Launched In India: Price, Availability And OTT Benefits

Jio AirFiber plug-and-play has gone live in select cities in India, including Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Mumbai, among others, on Ganesh Chaturthi.

Reliance Jio on Tuesday launched Jio AirFiber, in a bid to take on Airtel's Xstream AirFiber.

As reported earlier, telecom major Reliance Jio on Tuesday launched Jio AirFiber, in a bid to take on Airtel's Xstream AirFiber, which is Bharti Airtel's Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) communication systems. It should be noted that the installation of both Jio AirFiber and Airtel AirFiber does not require conventional routers, or fibre-optic cables for in-home Internet access and users can perform the installation autonomously. Jio AirFiber plug-and-play has gone live in select cities in India, including Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Mumbai, among others, on Ganesh Chaturthi, with an aim to bridge last-mile connectivity.

Currently, Airtel’s Xtream AirFiber is only available in Mumbai and Delhi. Jio AirFiber aims to provide broadband services along with bundled home entertainment and digital services.

Jio AirFiber Price And Other Details

Reliance Jio AirFiber has been launched in eight cities at a starting price of Rs 599 with the most expensive plan being priced at Rs 3,999. Jio AirFiber will essentially provide the same service as Airtel X, the company intends to bundle home entertainment, broadband as well as digital services. Reliance Jio AirFiber will offer more than 550 digital TV channels and they will also be able to use Catch-up TV.

According to the company, more than 16 over-the-top (OTT) apps will be provided to the buyer and they can use the subscription to stream services across any device, including TV, laptop, mobile or tablet.

"With Jio AirFiber, we are expanding our addressable market to rapidly cover every home in our country with similar quality of service. JioAirFiber will enable millions of homes with world-class digital entertainment, smart home services and broadband, through its solutions across education, health, surveillance and smart home," Akash Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited was quoted as saying in a press statement.

• To start booking via WhatsApp, users have to give a missed call at 60008-60008, or visit www.jio.com or visit their nearest Jio Store.
• After booking their JioAirFiber connection, users need to register for JioAirFiber services.
• Post booking, Jio will get in touch with them and connect them as soon as services in the building are ready.
