Jio Extends 5G Services To 27 More Cities, Takes Total To 331 Locations Across Country

Jio True 5G offers lightning-fast speeds of up to 1 Gbps.

Reliance Jio, the biggest telecom operator in India in terms of market share, on Wednesday announced that it is launching its 5G services in 27 more cities across 13 states and union territories, extending its network of ultra-high-speed telephony to a total of 331 cities in India. The company's statement revealed that Jio True 5G is now available in additional cities in states such as Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.

According to the company's statement, Jio users in the 27 newly added cities will be invited to the Jio Welcome Offer starting March 8, 2023, where they can experience unlimited data at speeds of up to 1 Gbps at no extra cost. Mukesh Ambani, the company's billionaire chairman, had previously announced that Jio's 5G services would be available throughout the country by the end of 2023.

Jio's statement highlighted the technological advantages of True 5G services, including high-speed Internet, low-latency, and stand-alone services.

The statement added that Jio True 5G offers lightning-fast speeds of up to 1 Gbps, allowing for seamless streaming of high-definition content, immersive and interactive viewing, and cloud gaming. Additionally, Jio True 5G technology has the potential to enhance the capabilities of emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR), opening up new possibilities for innovation in areas such as healthcare, education, and agriculture.

Jio's spokesperson stated that the company aims to offer the transformational benefits of Jio True 5G technology to all of its users by the end of 2023. The spokesperson added that Jio True 5G will cover every town and city in the country by that time.

Last week, Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani said that the rollout of 5G will be completed by the end of 2023 across India. Speaking at the Andhra Pradesh Global Investors Summit, Ambani said that this will benefit every sector of the economy and will create employment opportunities in the state. 

Ambani said, "The rollout of 5G will be completed by the end of 2023 throughout India. This will benefit every sector of the economy and will create employment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh…We are creating the largest and the best digital network footprint in the state by investing over Rs 40,000 crore. Our 4G network covers 98 per cent of the state."
