Woman Allegedly Killed After Redmi 6A Phone Explodes, Youtuber Claims

As per the YouTuber, the woman who allegedly died after a Redmi 6A exploded was her aunt and she was found dead after her smartphone exploded.

A woman was allegedly killed after a Redmi 6A smartphone exploded, according to a YouTuber named MD Talk YT (Manjeet). As per the YouTuber, the woman who allegedly died after a Redmi 6A exploded was her aunt and she was found dead after her smartphone exploded, the media has reported. MD Talk YT also mentioned that his aunt had kept the Redmi 6A device near her face on a pillow when it exploded.

The YouTuber posted about the incident on Twitter and tagged key Xiaomi officials Manu Jain and Anuj Sharma and urged the handset maker to "support the family".

ABP Live has approached Xiaomi India for a comment on the incident. The story will be updated if a response is received.

It's a bad time for us. It's a responsibility of a brand to support🙏," MD Talk YT (Manjeet) tweeted from his Twitter handle @Mdtalk16.

He had also posted images of his aunt who allegedly passed due to the smartphone explosion, lying on the bed and of the exploded smartphone.

Reacting to the incident, Xiaomi wrote in a tweet: “At Xiaomi India, customer safety is of utmost importance and we take such matters extremely seriously. Our team is trying to get in touch with the affected family and determine the cause of the incident."

It should be noted that smartphone explosion incidents are not new and other handset makers such as OnePlus' Nord devices have also exploded in the past. There have been incidents of OnePlus Nord 2 devices catching fire in the past and causing burns to the users and one such incident was reported in April this year where a OnePlus Nord 2 exploded while the user was on a call.

According to one Lakshay Verma, the OnePlus Nord 2 exploded while his brother was on a call due to which his brother sustained injuries on his palm and face, according to a report published in Gizmo China.
