Nothing Expands ChatGPT Integration Across Old Earbuds And Sub-Brand CMF
Nothing has integrated ChatGPT into its Ear and Ear (a) wireless earbuds.
UK-based consumer tech startup Nothing has unveiled its plans to expand support for OpenAI’s ChatGPT integration across its audio devices, including earbuds and earphones under its sub-brand CMF. Nothing stated that the ChatGPT integration will be available through a forthcoming update to the Nothing X app, scheduled for release on May 21.
Nothing has integrated ChatGPT into its Ear and Ear (a) wireless earbuds. Starting May 21, users can access ChatGPT integration through the Nothing X app for Ear (1), Ear (stick), Ear (2), CMF Buds, CMF Neckband Pro, and CMF Buds Pro.

In addition to pinch-to-speak functionality, Nothing offers several widgets on its smartphones for swift access to the ChatGPT app and its different input modes – text, voice, and image. This feature debuted on Phone (2) through the Nothing OS 2.5.5 update and was recently extended to (2a) earlier this month.
Nothing Users Can Choose ChatGPT As Default Assistant
Nothing has let smartphone users choose ChatGPT as their default assistant, accessible via a "pinch-to-speak" gesture on the Ear and Ear (a) wireless earbuds. However, as other Nothing products lack pinch-to-speak functionality, alternative methods will be provided to activate ChatGPT. It's worth noting that ChatGPT integration is presently exclusive to Nothing phones through the Nothing X app.
"The integration will be available on the additional products via a Nothing X app update on May 21, earlier than the previously announced June rollout," the London-based company said in a statement.
"Users will be able to pinch-to-speak to ChatGPT directly from Nothing audio products paired with Nothing phones," it added.
Meanwhile, Nothing reported a 144 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth in the first quarter (January-March period) of this year. According to data from Counterpoint Research, the company credited this growth to its mid-range model, the Nothing Phone (2a), which gained "significant mind share".
In March of this year, Nothing unveiled its third smartphone, the Phone 2a (read full review here), in India.
Established in 2020, Nothing has sold over three million products worldwide, including the Phone (1).
To recall, Nothing Phone 2a recently debuted in a blue colour variant, specially crafted with the Indian market in mind, according to the Carl Pei-led brand. Initially launched in limited black and white options in March, the blue edition went on sale on Flipkart starting May 2 at 12pm IST, at a discounted price tag of Rs 19,999.
Following the initial sale, the new colour variant is expected to return to the same pricing as other colour options in India. This means the 8GB + 128GB configuration will be priced at Rs 23,999, while the 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB versions will be available for Rs 25,999 and Rs 27,999, respectively.
