In the fastest ever local production of new iPhone models, the newly-launched iPhone 14 is going to be assembled in the country in the next quarter, the media has reported. The locally made iPhone 14 units are likely to become available in India by December, says a report by The Economic Times. This comes amid reports of Tata Group being in talks with Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron to start assembling iPhones in the country.

For years, China has had supremacy when it comes to manufacturing new iPhone models, but the pattern is set to change as Foxconn Technology Group, Apple's contract manufacturer and a primary manufacturer of iPhones would begin assembling the iPhone 14 device at a facility near the southern state of Chennai "almost simultaneously" with China this year. This was first hinted at by famed Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo.
The locally assembled iPhone 14 models would give a big boost to Apple's Make In India plans and serve a big portion of the country's iPhone buying population, market analysts had told ABP Live ahead of the launch of the iPhone 14 series.
According to analysts and industry executives, the December quarter would be the highest ever shipments that Apple has ever made to India, at 570,000 units as compared to 370,000 units shipped in 2021, the report added.
Even though Apple and Foxconn were initially aiming to start producing iPhone models in India and China simultaneously this year, previous reports say that the first iPhone 14 models in India may be finished only in late October or November. The production of iPhone models in countries apart from China is usually aimed at meeting global demand.
