Elon Musk Announces Change In Recommendation Algo For Pinned Posts On X. Here's What He Said
Musk's announcement follows his earlier declaration about the impending modification, made approximately a week ago.
Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur behind X (formerly Twitter), revealed plans for a significant alteration to the platform's recommendation algorithm. Musk declared that soon, a pinned post by a user will be made visible to all of their followers.
Musk clarified in a tweet on Thursday that the new change will be applied to "one pinned post" about every 48 hours to prevent "gaming of the system," which means rigging or milking a system.
A change is coming to our recommendation algorithm that will ensure that all your followers see your pinned posts.

This only applies to one pinned post every ~48 hours to prevent gaming of the system.
While the precise timing of the algorithm change remains unspecified, Musk's announcement follows his earlier declaration about the impending modification, made approximately a week ago.
When you pin a post, it is now automatically added to your highlights section.

Soon, we will adjust the algorithm to prioritize showing pinned posts to your followers. This will only work once per day to prevent gaming of the system.

In another development, Musk hinted at a potential challenge to Google's dominance in the email service arena. During a conversation on X, Musk disclosed the upcoming product named Xmail. Although details about Xmail's features and release date remain scarce, Musk indicated that it would be seamlessly integrated into the X app.
The revelation came in response to a query from Nate, an engineer at X, who asked, "When are we making Xmail?" Musk's casual response, "It's coming," quickly sparked a buzz on the platform.
Following Musk's comment, Xmail rapidly gained traction, with over 15,000 posts discussing the news. Users reacted with a mix of excitement and curiosity, sharing memes and opinions about Musk's latest venture.
While Musk has a track record of ambitious projects and significant transformations since acquiring X, competing with Gmail, which boasts over 1.8 billion users as of 2024, would pose a formidable challenge.
