Tiruvannamalai Custodial Death: Autopsy Reveals Multiple Fractures & Injuries To Thangamani Before Death

Tiruvannamalai Custodial Death Case: However, the doctors have not completely revealed the cause of the death.

Chennai: The postmortem report of Thangamani who died in the custody of police in Tiruvannamalai revealed that he suffered from multiple injuries and fractures before his body.  The victim even had fractures on the 3rd and 4th rib on the left side of the body, said the autopsy report. 

According to a report on The New Indian Express, Thangamani suffered from red abrasions in the right arm and elbow and another abrasion on his left forearm 12-24 hours before the time of his death.  

The body also had dark red contusions measuring 4*3 cm on the left hand, it said. 

The autopsy also mentioned that Thangamani suffered a fracture to his 3rd and 4th rib on the left side of his chest. However, the injury might have also been due to the cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedure done at the hospital, it said.

There was also an irregular laceration at the tip of the tongue, it added. 

The post-mortem was performed by Dr Kamalakannan and Dr AH Sugan Chander, both of the Department of Forensic Medicine in Government Tiruvannamalai Medical College. 

However, the doctors have not exactly revealed the cause of the death yet.

On April 26, Thangamani of Thattaranai Village in Tiruvannamalai was picked up by Prohibition and Enforcement Wing for allegedly selling arrack. However, the police said that he died a day later after suffering from seizures. 

Following this, the case has been transferred to CB-CID for inquiry.
