Amidst the torrential rains that swept across southern Tamil Nadu in December, the Subramanya Swamy Temple in Tiruchendur grappled with severe flooding. The temple premises were inundated as floods ravaged the Thoothukudi district causing widespread disruption. The flood crisis threw life in the southern state out of normalcy prompting concerted efforts from both the state and Central governments to launch a massive rescue and relief operation for the affected populace.

A week later, bringing solace to devotees, the Tiruchendur Murugan returned to its usual state of tranquility and reverence.

The Tiruchendur Brahmotsavam, an annual event held during the month of Masi (February-March) each year, holds significant reverence throughout Tamil Nadu. Lasting for twelve days, this grand festival features the procession of all three temple cars and concludes with the Teppam, or Float Festival.

Of special note is the Pachchai Sattuppadi, occurring on the eighth morning, where the deity is adorned in lush green floral decorations. This particular ritual is eagerly anticipated by all attendees and is considered an integral part of the festival's splendor.
