Tamil Nadu: Two Patients Test Positive For Swine Flu Infection In Coimbatore

The Corporation requested all people of Coimbatore to wear masks and follow hygienic practices

Chennai: Two persons from Coimbatore tested positive for Swine Flu infection, according to Coimbatore Corporation's bulletin. The two patients are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Coimbatore. 

In a release, Raja Gopal, special officer of Coimbatore Corporation said, "Two persons have tested positive for Swine Flu infection. Hence, people coming out of their homes should compulsorily wear masks."

"Everyone should keep their homes clean and must follow personal hygiene including washing hands regularly. If anyone gets cold, cough, headache or any other symptoms they are requested to visit a primary healthcare centre," the Corporation official said. 

He also said that the Corporation is conducting 64 special medical camps in Coimbatore due to the rains and requested people to avail the treatment offered in the facilities.

Swine Flu & its precautions

Swine Flu is well-known as an H1N1 virus infection. H1N1 is an influenza virus that originates from pigs and spreads to people. The first time Swine flu was discovered in the world was in 2009 and soon the World Health Organisation declared Swine flu as a pandemic.

The H1N1 virus can spread through the saliva and mucus of a patient even when they sneeze so sanitization is the most important precautionary measure to keep the virus away.

Swine Flue symptoms

The symptoms of the virus include cold, cough, sore throat, body aches, headaches, chills and fever.

Among all, adults above 65 years of age, young children, people with asthma, heart ailments and diabetes are more vulnerable to the infection.
