Chennai: The police Sunday recovered the body of a college student who was allegedly murdered by two Class 10 school students. According to the police, the accused took the help of an Instagram friend to execute the murder because the college student was allegedly extorting money from them by blackmailing them with some private photographs. 

According to a report on ABP Nadu, the 20-year-old college student, Premkumar, son of a daily wage labourer Ravichandran, was allegedly attacked by a gang near Redhills area and was abducted. A friend of Premkumar, who was with him on a two-wheeler, immediately rushed back to Premkumar's home and informed his parents.

The parents lodged a complaint with the Otteri police in Vandalur. 

Preliminary investigation led the police to the two Class 10 students, both girls.  

During interrogation, they reportedly revealed that Premkumar befriended them in Vandalur and had been talking to them over the phone. He allegedly shot obscene images of the girls and started blackmailing them for money. According to the police, he had been threatening the two girls for nearly a year, and extorted almost Rs 1.5 lakh from them.

As the girls could not take it any longer, they befriended a boy, also a student, on Instagram and shared their ordeal, the police said. The boy immediately hatched a plan and told the girls to ask Premkumar to come to Redhills so they could hand over some money to him, they added. 

As planned, the two students got in touch with Premkumar and he reached Redhills. The Instagram friend then abducted him with the help of a few other accomplices, according to the police. 

The gang allegedly took Premkumar to Gummidipoondi and kept him in a room where they allegedly tortured him. They then hacked him to death in Echankatumedu village and buried him in a vacant land nearby. 

The police on Sunday took the three accused to the spot and recovered the body. They have sent his body for post mortem.
