PM Modi To Inaugurate 1,152 Houses Built Under 'Light House Project' In Chennai Tomorrow

It is to be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stones of Light House Projects at six sites across the country on January 1 last year.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate 1,152 houses constructed as part of the 'Light House Project -- Chennai', that was built at a cost of Rs 116 crore, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban, on Thursday, officials said. According to a report by news agency PTI, the project makes use of precast concrete construction system, as used in the US and Finland, the officials said.

For the first time in the country, the Light House Project makes use of the best new-age international technologies, materials and processes in the construction sector at such a large scale, the officials further said.

It is to be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stones of Light House Projects at six sites across the country on January 1 last year.

The prime minister has been regularly been taking stock of the progress of the project, including through drone-based monitoring, the officials added.

As per the PTI report, Prime Minister Modi will also take part in an event on May 26 to mark 20 years of the Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad, and will also lay the foundation stone of 11 other projects, worth over Rs 31,400 crore, in Chennai, his office said on Tuesday.

“These projects will also help significantly improve socio-economic prosperity in the region, have a transformative impact on several sectors and also help create employment opportunities,” a report by Mint quoted the PMO as saying.

The Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation five projects, worth over ₹2,900 crore, In Chennai.
