Chennai: The Members of Parliament from the western belt of Tamil Nadu led by DMK MP Kanimozhi will meet Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday.

According to a report on IANS, the delegation will meet the two Union Ministers for finding solutions to the problems faced by the weavers on the advice of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.

The proposed meeting of the Tamil Nadu MPs with the two Union Ministers follows Stalin's letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the high cotton and yarn prices affecting the textiles sector and the workers.

On Monday, TN CM Stalin also wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention to solve the issues faced by the knitwear units in the state.

In a letter, CM Stalin said, many spinning, weaving and garment units are on the verge of closing down due to the unsustainable demands and price mismatch between the price of supply and cost of production.

Hence, the CM urged the intervention of PM Modi to curb the rise in cotton yarn prices in the state
