MDMK MP A. Ganeshamurthi Dies Of Cardiac Arrest After Alleged Suicide Attempt
MDMK MP A. Ganeshamurthi who was hospitalised after allegedly committing suicide, passed away on Thursday due to cardic arrest.
Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MP from Tamil Nadu's Erode, A. Ganeshamurthi, passed away on Thursday morning at a private hospital in Coimbatore after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was earlier hospitalised on March 24 after he allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poisonous tablets.

The 77-year-old MDMK leader died while he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Coimbatore at around 5 am on March 28.
The Erode Town police had registered an attempt to suicide case but it will now be altered to a death by suicide case, PTI reported citing police official.
The body has been handed over by the hospital authorities to the police, who took it to the Institute of Road Transport (IRT) Medical College Hospital for autopsy. After post-mortem, the body will be taken to Kumaravalasu village for burial, PTI reported.
On March 24, he developed uneasiness and vomited after which his family members admitted him to a private hospital in Erode.
"After check-ups, he was admitted to the ICU and put on the ventilator," news agency PTI quoted a police official as saying.
The police official also told his family members that he had consumed pesticide, which led to uneasiness and vomiting.
Ganeshamurthi was later shifted to a private hospital in Coimbatore, where he was accompanied by two doctors and his family members in an ambulance.
Earlier, MDMK leader Durai Vaiko also visited the hospital and stated that the Erode MP was in critical condition and was receiving ECMO treatment.
After he was hospitalised, other political leaders including the state Minister for Urban Development and Housing and Excise and Prohibition S. Muthusamy, state Minister for Urban Development and Housing and Excise and Prohibition, Dr C. Saraswathy and BJP MLA of Modakurichi, K.V Ramalingam of the AIADMK also rushed to the hospital to inquire about his health, PTI reported.
As per media reports, he attempted suicide after the party high command denied giving him a ticker for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
A. Ganeshamurthi was elected on a DMK ticket in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Erode.
