Tamil Nadu: Jallikattu Bull Fed Live Rooster In Viral Video, YouTuber Faces Legal Action

The action was initiated based on the complaint by Arun Prasanna, the founder of People for Cattle Aim India (PFCI). 

In the complaint, PFCI said that making a plant-eating bull eat raw meat is dangerous.

A case has been registered by Tamil Nadu police against a YouTuber named Ragu for a video posted, depicting the controversial act of feeding a live rooster to a Jallikattu bull in Salem district. The video reportedly showed three men holding the bull and another man forcefully shoving the live rooster into the bull's mouth in Chinnappampaati village of the district.

The action was initiated based on the complaint by Arun Prasanna, the founder of People for Cattle Aim India (PFCI). 

In a letter to Inspector of Tharamangalam Police on Tuesday, Arun Prasanna said, “The immense fear and pain the rooster would have endured while being roughly handled, and forced between a bull’s teeth, while being slowly chewed to death alive is difficult to imagine. Similarly, the confusion and distress the bull would have endured while being forced to chew on bones and feathers and to drink blood and swallow flesh, something he is totally not biologically equipped to do, is difficult to fathom.”

In the complaint, PFCI said that making a plant-eating bull eat raw meat is dangerous. It can make the bull sick with diseases like Salmonella. It might even create a situation where a new disease could infect the herbivorous animal, he said. 

Till now, no arrest has been made and further investigation is on. 

Jallikattu is a traditional sport in Tamil Nadu where people try to control a released bull let out from an entry point (Vaadivasal). 

The controversy has come when there is opposition over conducting Jallikattu and other bull-taming events in the state. Throughout the years, there have been debates on the safety of both participants and animals, sparking debates and discussions about the regulation and ethical dimensions of Jallikattu.
