Tamil Nadu Govt To Form A Committee To Ensure Social Justice

The Chief Minister MK Stalin said that the state government had decided to form a committee to monitor whether reservation was being implemented completely.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu government to form a monitoring committee to ensure social justice in education, employment, appointments, promotions and postings, said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday.

Quoting the chief minister, a report in The Hindu said that even though a scale to ensure social justice is available legally, the state government had decided to form a committee to monitor whether reservation was being implemented completely.

Pointing out that legal experts, educationists and bureaucrats would be part of the committee, The Tamil Nadu CM said that the committee would make recommendations to the government on steps to be taken if social justice was not followed and guidelines for the committee would be announced soon.

As per the report, the chief minister said that the formation of the committee was the next step taken by the DMK government in its journey of the social justice movement. Pointing out that the ‘communal government order’ was effective beyond the state border and it was from there that the journey of social justice movement commenced, he said that the GO made a significant impact on the lives of several generations. 

Meanwhile, the chief minister had presided over an event when government officials took pledge on the social justice day on Friday. Government officials across the state took pledge and observed the day while several political parties and outfits paid tributes to Periyar’s statues. 

Earlier this month, Stalin announced that the birth anniversary of social reformer Periyar EV Ramasamy would be commemorated as social justice day.
