Tamil Nadu Govt To Announce On Implementation Of Rs 1,000 Monthly Assistance To Women In Budget: CM Stalin

Stalin said, "The date of implementation (of this scheme) will be announced in the budget in March."

Chennai: Tamil Nadu CM Stalin is in Erode for campaigning for senior Congress leader EVKS Elangovan fielded as the candidate by DMK-led alliance in the bypolls on Saturday, the last day for campaigning.

During the campaign, Stalin said the government would make an announcement on the much anticipated monthly assistance scheme for women family heads in the upcoming budget session.

Stalin said, "The date of implementation (of this scheme) will be announced in the budget in March."

The CM said, 85 per cent of the DMK's election promises have been implemented and the rest would be done by the end of this year.

Stalin also spoke about the free breakfast scheme for students of government schools which was implemented by him in Madurai.

He also highlighted other welfare measures introduced by his government including free bus travel for women and free electricity for farmers.

The Chief Minister also recalled DMK founder late C N Annadurai and late party chief M Karunanidhi’s association with the Dravidian stalwart EVR Periyar in Erode in 'Kudiyarasu' newspaper.

EVKS Elangovan is the grandson of rationalist leader E V R Periyar.

On the other hand, AIADMK has fielded Thennarasu. The SC verdict upholding July 11 AIADMK general council meeting as valid just ahead of the election is expected to create an impact on the field.

The Erode East Bypolls were necessitated after the demise of the sitting MLA Thirumahan Everaa, Congress leader and son of EVKS Elangovan. Thirumahan Everaa died after suffering a massive cardiac arrest in Erode.

The last date of electioneering for the Erode East Bypolls is February 25. The elections are set to take place on February 27.  The result of the bypoll will be out on March 2.
