Meanwhile, the former Minister was held after over a dozen victims alleged that Rajenthra Balaji swindled several lakhs with a promise of securing a job in state government departments including state-run dairy cooperative Aavin while he served as the Minister for Milk and Dairy Development portfolio.

Based on this, the police registered a case under sections including conspiracy, cheating and criminal intimidation of the Indian Penal Code.

Following this, the former Minister moved Court but his anticipatory bail plea was dismissed by Madras HC in December 2020. Rejecting the plea, the Court said, job rackets cheat and lure innocent people and put their life into question.
