TN Govt Mulls Over Unlocks In Lesser Affected Districts With Death Rate Still Being Concern

Chennai: Despite the number of positive cases are seeing a dip in Tamil Nadu, the death rate hasn’t come down yet. On Friday, the death toll has been 463, which remained to be 450 plus for 11 straight days. There has been a respite for hospitals as the state government claimed that there is no dearth of oxygen beds in the state.

The number of COVID cases recorded on Friday were 22,651, there is also a drop in recovery rate. Coimbatore once again recorded the highest number of cases of 2,810 while Chennai has got 1,971 COVID cases.

Amid the high death rate, the state government mulling over unlocks in a phased manner, with lesser restrictions. The health experts in the state are constantly keeping an eye on the number of cases and with their advice, the government will repeal restrictions in the districts that are under control with no many COVID cases. CM Stalin to announce whether there would be lockdown extension.

The government has been doing their bit in seeing a dip in the COVID cases in the state, Opposition leader Edappadi Palaniswami has urged the government to increase the rate of RT-PCR tests as the first wave was witnessed and handled by the AIADMK govt. Also, the previous AIADMK govt has screened people at their doorsteps to keep a tight watch on the increasing COVID cases. But, Palaniswami mentioned that it’s not happening now.
