Tamil Nadu: 19-Year-Old Medical Aspirant 'Dies By Suicide' After Failing To Clear NEET Exam

Chennai: A medical aspirant who failed to clear National Eligibility Cum Entrance Exam (NEET) for the second time died by suicide in Chennai on Wednesday. The student was also reportedly pursuing second-year medicine in Philippines but wanted to pursue MBBS course in Chennai.
According to a report on ABP Nadu, Lakshana Swetha was the daughter of a government school headmistress and she completed Class 12 in 2019. She was living with her mother before moving to Philippines since her mother became estranged from her father.
Against this backdrop, Lakshana Swetha came from Philippines to attend NEET On August 7, 2022. The exam results were announced on Thursday. When Swetha checked the result for NEET exam, she realised that she did not clear the exam and became depressed.
In the wee hours, Lakshana under depression took extreme step and hanged herself.

At around 3.30 pm, when her mother came out of the room, she was shocked to find her daughter hanging and she immediately called for an ambulance. The mother rushed her daughter to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital (KMCH). However, the doctors at KMCH declared her brought dead.

Meanwhile, only two students from Tamil Nadu, S Tridev Vinayaka (705) and Harini (702), topped the All-India Rank in NEET by securing 30th and 43rd ranks respectively.
