'Vijayakanth Would Have Been So Powerful In TN Politics If...': Rajinikanth Pays Final Tribute To DMDK Chief

Remembering DMDK president Vijayakanth, Rajinikanth said, there was no one like Vijayakanth in politics and cinema.

Actor Rajinikanth paid his last respects to DMDK president Vijayakanth at Island ground, Anna Salai in Chennai on Friday. DMDK chief and 'Captain' Vijayakanth passed away at a hospital in Chennai on Thursday. Vijayakanth was on ventilator support after being admitted to a private hospital in the city for pneumonia. As news of his demise spread, a sizable crowd gathered at his residence, where DMDK supporters mourned the loss of the veteran leader.

On Friday, actor Rajinikanth paid his last respects to Vijayakanth. After paying his respects, he said, "We will never get a person as good as Vijayakanth. In politics and cinema, there is no one like him. This loss is irreplaceable."

"It is unfortunate to lose my beloved friend, it is painful. We all were thinking he would recover from health issues. But when we saw Vijayakanth in the recent DMDK meeting, I lost a little bit of hope. If he was healthy he would have been powerful in Tamil Nadu politics, he could have done a lot of good things to people," he said.
