National Women Commission Condemns IAF Doctors For Alleged '2-Finger Test' On Rape Victim
The woman IAF officer was allegedly sexually assaulted by her colleague and authorities had subjected her to a two-finger test after she informed authorities about the harassment.
Chennai: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has condemned the use of the banned "two-finger test" on a rape victim during the medical examination at the Air Force Hospital in Coimbatore after she had reported sexual assault by a colleague to the Air Force college authorities.
In a statement, the commission said that it was taking cognizance of the matter. The statement said, “it has come across a media post where it has been reported that a female air force officer was subjected to the banned and intrusive two-finger test by the India air force doctors who made the victim ‘relive the trauma’ after she has alleged sexual assault against a 29-year-old colleague, a flight lieutenant who had been arrested by the police.”
The commission, in the statement, said it was utterly disappointed and strongly condemns the action of Indian air force doctors conducting the banned two-finger test on the victim, thereby violating the supreme court’s decision and also violating the right to privacy and dignity of the victim.
