Singer Bhuvana Seshan Shares 'Me Too' Allegations Against Lyricist Vairamuthu

Almost 17 women have placed allegations against Vairamuthu, she said.

A day after lyricist Vairamuthu, who has been named in 'Me Too' allegations was allotted a house under 'Dream House scheme', Singer Bhuvana Seshan said that she came forward to share her "Me Too" ordeal to prevent the dreams of young singers from getting shattered. She also applauded Singer Chinmayi for her courage for sharing about the harassment she faced because of the lyricist and fighting a battle against his supporters and fans.

Singer Bhuvana Seshan on 'Me Too' allegations against Vairamuthu said, "Almost 17 women have placed allegations against him (poet and lyricist Vairamuthu) but only four of them dared to show their faces and say their names, it's that difficult to come out of a harassment situation. The only purpose of sharing my story is that I don't want the dreams of young singers to be crushed. I don't want the same to happen with girls."

The statement comes after Vairamuthu was honoured by DMK government through 'Dream House Scheme'. Through the scheme, renowned writers are recognised and provided a home. The announcement of an allocation of a house to Vairamuthu came just two days back under the scheme. Political activists too criticised the move of the government.

On Chinmayi, she said, "That girl's (singer Chinmayi Sripada) courage is amazing, she has been continuously abused on social media (for putting allegations against Vairamuthu)... Things have been very difficult for her."

Bhuvana Seshan said that a scenario like this should not continue as many girls were suffering because of this. However, she stated no investigation would happen and the system would not let that happen, she added.
