Indian Coast Guard Rescues Six Fishermen Stranded On Capsized Boat Near Point Calimere
Indian Coast Guard safely brought all six Indian fishermen to Nagapattinam and handed them over to local authorities.
Chennai: The Indian Coast Guard personnel rescued six fishermen who got stranded after their boat capsized off Point Calimere in Kodiyakkarai on Wednesday. All the rescued fishermen were then brought to Nagapattinam.
In a tweet, Navy Spokesperson said, "INS Bitra while on Palk Bay patrol rescued six fishermen stranded on their capsized boat off Point Calimere (Kodiakkarai) on 13 Jul 22."
"All six #Indian fishermen were safely brought to Nagapattinam and were handed over to local authorities," he said.

On May 11, 2022, Indian Coast Guard rescued six fishermen in Gulf of Mannar and brought them to Thoothukudi harbour in Tamil Nadu. The coast guard ship named Abhiraj rescued the fishermen.

Meanwhile, the Coast Guard airlifted 11 fishermen and brought them to safety amid threats of Cyclone Asani in Odisha. The fishermen were rescued near Sonapur on Odisha Coast.
The boat was stuck in the cyclone since it suffered an engine failure due to the cyclonic winds and rough seas. The boat of a resident of Sonapur was returning from Visakhapatnam at the time of the incident.
