DMK In Fix After Party's Nellikuppam Municipal Chairman Refuses To Quit From Post Despite Orders
The Municipal Chairman Post In Nellikuppam Municipality was allotted to VCK.
Chennai: The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu is in a fix after the party ward member who was elected to municipal chairman post refused to quit the post despite party orders. The party high command allotted the seat to ally Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi for indirect polls. However, a DMK candidate contested against the VCK candidate and won the post.
DMK ward member Jayanthi Radhakrishnan won against a VCK candidate, IANS reported. However, DMK president MK Stalin instructed all DMK councillors and ward members to quit the posts if they have won from seats allotted to the alliance partners.
Expressing his regret, the CM said, the winners can think that they have achieved something but it's me who is standing in guilt as the president of the party.

Hence, he said, the rebels should resign immediately and if not they'll be removed from the party.
Based on the order, Jayaprabha Manivannan of DMK, who was elected as Vice-Chairman of the municipality, resigned from the post since the Vice-Chairman post was also reserved for VCK.
Jayanthi should also quit the seat and pave way for VCK. However, Jayanthi has been against the idea.
Hence, the VCK cadre earlier took to road roko at Nellikuppam municipality.

The municipality has 30 wards and of the total, DMK captured 13 wards, its allies won in five wards, AIADMK won in three wards, DMDK and PMK won in one ward each. The independent candidates won in seven wards.
