Crocodile Scare In Chengalpattu: District Collector Debunks Fake Viral Photo

In this backdrop, a social media user took a video of the flash floods on roads and alleged that something similar to a crocodile is floating in the water in Guduvancherry. 

Chennai: The recent rains in Chengalpattu district led to flash floods in Tiruchy National Highway between Urapakkam and Guduvancherry areas. Following this, the public started to circulate images from the area and issued alerts to other passersby using the route. Against this backdrop, a social media user took a video of the flash floods on roads and alleged that something similar to a crocodile is floating in the water in Guduvancherry.

According to a report on ABP Nadu, the crocodile scare started to reach the public and some of them made the image viral by claiming that it be a crocodile. 

Based on the viral image, ABP Nadu contacted Chengalpattu District Collector Ragunath who debunked the claim. The Collector said wrong information that crocodile is seen on GST Road in Vallancheri Koot Road of Chengalpattu district is doing the rounds. The black thing is not a crocodile but a wooden log, he said.

Meanwhile, the IMD predicted that the heavy rains that lashed Chennai for the past few days will start to reduce on Monday while intense spells will continue in Western and Southern Tamil Nadu for the subsequent 48 hours. The IMD predicted thunderstorms with moderate rainfall over Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Cuddalore and Puducherry and Karaikal area within the next three hours from 8 Am on Monday.
